A Homemade Christmas, Saturday 12/8
The Grove Theater is setting the Christmas mood this year by opening its door to artisans, quilters, and many other kinds of creators to offer homemade items to our community for purchase. We believe there are plenty of opportunities to buy from factories, huge organizations merchandising online who provide us with many products made overseas. Opportunities to purchase from local artisans who are hand-crafting goods, opportunities to buy from our neighbors who are making items in our own neighborhood should be readily available — especially during the holidays! That’s why we’re offering this “Homemade Christmas” opportunity:
Saturday, December 8 from 10:00-3:00
AT THE HISTORIC GROVE THEATER, 123 RANDOLPH ROAD
An invitation to create and to support local creatives!
At the Grove, we believe that handmade gifts convey a level of love and care that manufactured items can’t always communicate. We believe that creative talents expressed in community go a long way to raising all our boats.
That’s why we really want to see the community come out this Christmas in support of handmade gifts, cards, and other items.
We want to see you on December 8!
important information FOR CRAFTERS
This is a Christmas or Winter-Themed Show for Hand-crafted / Homemade Goods only. Merchandizers and General Service Vendors with manufactured products are not permitted. This event is designed to promote local artists, local work, and homemade items.
Only handcrafted, homemade goods. Examples include homemade holiday cards, ornaments, quilts, throws, frames, wreaths, jewelry, and other holiday-themed creations.
Show runs 10-3; Doors open for crafter set-up at 8:00 AM. Show ends promptly at 3:00 PM and vendors should be prepared to release the space within 60-90 minutes as we have an evening event in the space.
Free to Artists! We’re here to support you and your work! Any who would like to donate one crafted item to be used as a door prize or in a silent auction for our next “Friends of the Grove Theater” fundraiser is welcome to do so!
You will receive one 8 x 4 space inside the Grove Theater if registered by December 1st. The 8 X 4 space is recommended as a six-foot table with a little clearance on either side. The Grove Theater is limited in the number of tables it can provide. Artists should be prepared to bring their own set-up. We do have plenty of chairs however.
Power outlets are not guaranteed and will be released on a first-come, first serve basis. WiFi internet access is available but has limited range and is not guaranteed to work in all areas of the building. Bringing a hot-spot is recommended for vendors wishing to take credit card sales.
All vendors are responsible for their own sale taxes and by registering are agreeing to abide by all State and Federal laws regarding sales tax.
Our community is encouraged to come out on December 8th and look for that special handmade gift for loved ones. Our culture is filled with Black Friday’s and Cyber Monday’s and all too often our gifts represent the hectic, speed-driven culture that we all live in.
“Homemade Christmas” is designed to give us a feeling of slowing down, a feeling of uniqueness, and a feeling that what we do here locally matters — both to our creators and crafters, and to our family members who will receive something extraordinary and made by hand.
bring the kids!
While you shop and explore these handmade goods, let the kids craft something special for you! We will have supervised craft areas for children to make ornaments and other gifts while you shop. Take your time, enjoy the event and relax.
There’s no charge for the event, not even for the crafting stations that we’re setting up for your children to enjoy! This is about community and our children are for sure a big part of that! Learning the joy that comes from creating something is also a big part of what makes the holidays special!
We’ll also have hot coco, coffee, and treats available for the entire family.
